The town of Bela-Bela in Limpopo is famous for its hot springs. So, it’s not surprising that it is also well known as Warmbaths. It’s less than two hours from Pretoria and about two hours and forty minutes from Johannesburg and the OR Tambo International Airport. It enjoys a fantastic climate, and is well-equipped with plenty of shops and restaurants, as well as accommodation.

Visit the Hot Springs
The geothermic springs reach more than 50 degrees Celsius, and are infused with natural minerals that aid in healing, rejuvenating, and relaxing the body and mind. More than 22 000 litres of water gush out from the rocks every hour! The springs are at Forever Resorts, which also has a zipline, indoor hydro pools, a number of Jacuzzis, a main swimming pool, and even a kids’ play park.
Interact With Elephants
Adventures With Elephants is a sanctuary that homes rescued elephants and invites visitors to learn more about them. You can interact with these incredible animals up close; feeling their leathery skin and bristly hair, while looking deep into their soulful eyes. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Take a Hike
There are a few hiking trails in and around Bela-Bela. Exploring the countryside on foot gives you the opportunity to experience the beauty of Limpopo, its animals, and its gorgeous vegetation in a new way. The hikes range from shorter walks that take only a few hours to longer trails that span a couple of days.
Go on Safari
There are game reserves in Bela-Bela that are home to the Big Five as well as many other exciting animals species. The Mabula Game Reserve alone is home to around 60 different animal species including lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, buffalos, and ant lions. Mabula also offers visitors the opportunity to go on a safari of a different kind – on horseback.
