Businesses that wish to showcase their products while marketing their business models at the Regional Business Fair in Hammarsdale, are urged to register before 16 May to ensure they are part of this exciting exhibition.
The Inner/Outer West Regional Business Fair will take place from 25 to 27 May at the Hammarsdale Junction Mall. It will provide a platform for both small and big businesses to market their products, network and create linkages with prospective customers.
The three-day fair will feature a business conference known as the Business Indaba as well as a number of workshops. The Indaba will include a number of business empowerment practises such as the 2018 Lion’s Den Business Plan competition aimed at providing financial and non-financial support to businesses with innovative and sustainable business concepts.
Other workshops to be held at Hammarsdale include the Construction Indaba and Co-operatives workshops which will outline growth opportunities for businesses operating in these sectors.
EThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede called on small and emerging businesses to make use of this opportunity which will unlock economic opportunities in township and marginalised areas.
“This is an important platform for the City to accelerate the development of the small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) sector. We believe that this sector plays a huge role in reducing the high unemployment rate,” said Mayor Gumede.
She said the City is very proud of the remarkable growth and the positive impact the regional fairs have had on growing and sustaining small businesses. “The regional fairs have grown and produced a number of businesses which have contributed immensely to job creation and the overall economic growth of the City,” she said.
This year’s regional business fairs will be unique in the sense that they will feature a number of new innovative business elements as part of the Municipality’s 20 year celebration of the growth and success of the Durban Business Fair programme.
Mayor Gumede is inviting entrepreneurs, particularly the youth, to be part of this exciting business exhibition which aims to radically transform the economy of the City.
The registration fee to be part of the regional business fair for SMMEs is R200 with forms available from the Business Support, Tourism and Markets Unit situated at 199 Anton Lembede (formerly Smith) Street, 7th Floor of the Embassy Building as well as Sizakala Centres and councillors offices.
