The BAT Centre brings you an incredible band of young jazz musicians – the New Age Offering band (previously known as Standard Bank National Youth Jazz) which will be performing live at the Sunday Jazz Sundowners next week, on the 29th of April 2018.

The band is a selective of eight of South Africa’s fine young jazz musicians from Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg. They are all recognized instrumentalists, composers and band leaders. Though the band came together through the National Youth Jazz Band, the members has always admired each other as young upcoming jazz artists and, receiving the opportunity to collaborate, created a relationship of music and friendship. As the National band, they headlined the Grahamstown National Arts Festival and the Joy of Jazz, performing original music. They have since made their debut performance at The Orbit – Home of Jazz in Johannesburg and now are set to tour national and internationally.

Within the band are graduates from various South African universities. All majored or majoring in their respective instruments. The sound offered by the band is influenced by different cities they come from, with songs even named after their hometowns.

The band members are Dalisu Ndlazi – Bassist, Nick Pitman – Guitarist, Zibusiso Makhathini – Pianist, Thami Mahlangu – Saxophonist, Daniel van der Walt – Vocalist, Godfrey Mtambo – Alto Saxophonist, Muneeb Hermans – Trumpeter and Tsiamo Nkoane – Drummer.

Before and after the live performance, the audience will then be entertained by DJ Ndosi during The Chill Session.
