Sandile Cedric Mfusi Jnr aka Masandi, is an R&B/Soul singer, songwriter, actor and presenter born and raised in Durban South African. Growing up, Masandi’s talents were evident from a young age. At age 7 he began singing in the church as well as talent shows in his neighborhood. In high school Masandi was the lead trumpeter in the school brass band.

After matriculating from Glenwood High School in 2006 Masandi pursued a degree in the Social Sciences at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal (UKZN), Howard College majoring in Marketing Management and Media. Whilst completing his degree, his love for the performing arts continued to flourish. He added acting and modeling to his repertoire.

It was during this period that he joined a hip hop group called Niche Fam where, naturally, he became the lead singer. Niche Fam achieved success speedily – quickly becoming household names in KZN as well as generating a lot of buss throughout the country.

In 2011 their efforts were rewarded richly when they received the award for Music Group of the Year at the IKUSASA AWARDS, which was no small feat, considering that they were nominated in a category teeming with talent such as Freshly Ground, Locnville, The Arrows and Cashtime Fam as fellow nominees.

In 2013 Masandi took his acting career to the next level when he accepted a role on one of South Africa’s most popular drama series’, Isibaya. Masandi played the character Jojo who was loved dearly by fans of the show. He also managed to land a role as a lead character on a movie called Sugar Mama which was released in 2014.

2014 marked the beginning of his solo music career. The release of his first single “Bring it Back” was received positively. It was played on all the leading radio stations and received rave reviews, so much so that the hit single attracted the attention of legendary rapper K.O. who is also the co-founder of Cashtime Life. He was so impressed that he invited Masandi to studio where the two created the hit single ‘One Time’.

Masandi then release his first single “Ngane Yabantu” under the stable in 2016, which quickly gained heavy rotation across radio stations in the country such as Metro FM, Kaya FM, Gagasi FM and topping the charts at No.1 on Ukhozi FM, No.1 of Yfm #Hot99RnB. The debut video was also well received by Channel O, MTV Base and Trace. In February 2017, this sensational RnB artist dropped his first body of work titled “Escalation EP”, which is quickly starting to go viral. On this EP, he has worked with the likes of Big NUZ, Gemini Major, Aewon Wolf, Awgust Rush (USA), Nana Atta, SpiritBanger, Skatta, and Captain Blu (Nigeria).

Masandi was elected as one of the members to perform for “Team Durban”, alongside DJ Tira, Distruction Boyz, Duncan, NaakMusiq etc… This is the team that won the Red Bull culture Clash 2017. He was then also feature on Duncan’s Hit song “Change for Nobody” that also features Kwesta.

It goes without saying that Masandi’s achievements are a true testimony of his potential and work ethic as a musician, actor and an all round entertainer.
