A second born in a family of five, 24 year old rap artist Elijah Chigwida who goes by the name Accrue was born in Glenorah B in Zimbabwe and began expressing his feelings through music at the age of 14. In search of greener pastures, Accrue and fellow musician Drew (Maurice Vutika) moved to South Africa in 2015 where they met EL Koba (Mpilo Thwala) and have been working collaboratively, making music together.

“At first it was to help me escape the reality I was living in but then as I wrote more songs I grew to love it more. Not everyone walks the same path, but being able to experience another person’s life through music is powerful to say the least. Plenty of people strive to support diversity and want to have an open-mind, well rap can help you get there. Just listen” says Accrue

In 2016 Accrue met business man Shawn Jones who believed in his talent and signed him under his company PURE Records where he began working on his music career and late 2017 released his first hit single Pour Up featuring El Koba.

“When I released Pour up I was basically thinking about all the good times I’ve had and realised some of the best memories I made with friends. I had not done a song specifically dedicated to the wonderful people that have contributed to my creativity, happiness and growth as an individual. I called El Koba and when he liked the idea we went straight to studio. The song is available on all digital platforms and I hope the people will love it” Accrue concludes.
