The Going Green Conference takes place at the Department of Public Works Auditorium in Pietermaritzburg on 13-15 September 2017.

The theme, “Public Infrastructure leading through Innovation and Green Technologies”, will challenge decision makers in government and the private sector to confront new thinking about the environment.

The Going Green Conferences (GGCs) began as a vision to bring together building design professionals to exchange industry knowledge on improving green design processes within the built environment.

“Now its fifth year the conference is widely regarded as one of the leading training and development platforms for built environment professionals in South Africa,” said KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Human Settlements and Public Works, Ravi Pillay.

“It will provide an open platform for industry specialists to exchange technical knowledge with public sector professionals working in building services and maintenance of public facilities.”

GGC2017 is hosted by Green Building Design Group in partnership with Public Works.  Songo Didiza, the CEO of the Green Building Design Group added, “The target audience for the conference are all building design professionals namely engineers, architects, quantity surveyors, contractors including the private trading and manufacturing businesses that are actively involved within the built environment industry in South Africa.”

Key topics include sustainable water infrastructure services, energy services, resource efficiency and innovative finance mechanisms that can be used to fast track sustainable public infrastructure projects in the country.

Pillay is pleased that the conference will also offer networking and career development opportunities for emerging and student professionals through the “Student Green Innovations Day” which takes on 13 September in partnership with Durban University of Technology.
